New to herding and not sure where on earth to Start?
You're in the right place.
Yes, send me the free course
Not knowing where to being is where every handler starts, me included.
When you're new, it gets confusing fast: so much conflicting advice, no idea what step one even is, and a quiet worry that maybe you need a farm and a lifetime of experience to fit in. You don't.
So let me be straight about what this free course is. You will not have a trained herding dog by the end of it. That takes real work, and that's where my other courses and membership can help you.
What it does is answer the questions every beginner is already asking, show you what good early work actually looks like, and you'll get a feel for my teaching style, which will help you take a smart first step instead of an expensive wrong one.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- How to set up a simple training area so you're ready when you start
- What kind of sheep actually suit a beginner dog and handler, which is matters more than most people think.
- A look at me working a couple of young dogs so you can see good early herding instead of just reading about it.
- How to find a good instructor, and a training community that won't steer you wrong. Get a taste of what you'll learn in Herding Starts Here
- A clear picture of what comes next, including Herding Starts Here, where the real foundation gets built.
Who's teaching you
In this age of AI it's important to know that you are working with a real human. Someone with real experience, not just "harvested knowledge".
I've spent more than 35 years training dogs professionally, and the last 20 competing successfully at the highest level, always with dogs I've trained myself. My dogs and I are open trial winners, Calgary Stampede, USBCHA Championship and CBCA Championship double lift finalists.
None of that is really the point here, though. The point is that I remember being the beginner who didn't know what she didn't know, and I've spent years working out how to teach this so it actually makes sense.
I'm looking forward to working with you.

WHY I MADE THIS
Herding can feel like a closed club. Everyone seems to already know the rules, the lingo, the unspoken stuff, and nobody shows you the secret handshake.
Here's something that might help: I didn't grow up on a farm either. I built my whole program for people starting exactly where you are. No land, no sheep, no clue, just a good dog and the willingness to give it a go. This course is the friendly hand I wish someone had offered me at the beginning.
